THE ‘PERFECT’
The works as a part of International Women’s NIV Day Residency Exhibition ‘Frau’, portray friction a ‘woman’ of contemporary times goes through, as being seen in fragments. It has biographical elements.
“As an individual where do‘I’ exist? I do not want to conform to the expectation of others anymore. I was wanting to be heard and still, it continues…..”
Circumcision as the inspiration for the work with jute and kalava (a red thread tied on the wrist before any religious ceremony in India). Jute bag signifies here the strength (the strength that women have to carry the burden of all the beliefs and rituals without knowing the facts). And kalava is the symbol of tradition (a tradition at times that is followed blindly, again without knowing the facts). The black line drawing is the inspiration from Madhubani Painting, a Traditional Indian Art Practice from Bihar, a State in India.
